Claude Code accounts

Switch Claude Code accounts when one hits its limit.

Technically Not keeps several Claude Code accounts signed in at once, each in its own folder. When an agent hits its usage limit, its card says so and offers to switch: the agent restarts on another account and picks up the same conversation when the CLI can resume it. Codex accounts work the same way.

How switching works

Would rather wait for the reset? Auto-continue (on by default, Settings › Agents) shows "Paused · usage limit" and, a minute after the reset time in the CLI's message, tells the agent to carry on without repeating finished work.

Why the conversation carries over

Claude Code and Codex keep their sign-in in a settings folder. Technically Not gives each account its own folder and starts the agent with it, while every account shares the same conversation folder. So the agent on the new account can open the conversation the old account was in.

You don't need an app to live with usage limits. Here's how the options compare, including where each is better.

Questions

Can Claude Code use more than one account?

Claude Code uses one signed-in account per settings folder. Technically Not keeps a separate folder for each account you add and starts each agent with the one you pick, so several accounts stay signed in at once.

Does switching accounts keep my conversation?

When the CLI can resume it, yes. Your accounts share one conversation folder, so the agent restarts on the new account with the same conversation. If there's no saved conversation to resume, it starts fresh, and the app tells you which one happened.

Does it give me more usage than my plan?

No. Each account keeps its own plan and its own limits, and each provider's terms still apply. Technically Not only makes moving between accounts you already have quicker.

Does it work with Codex too?

Yes. Codex accounts work the same way as Claude Code accounts. Cursor Agent keeps one sign-in per computer, so switching there signs out and back in. OpenCode, Gemini CLI and Droid use one account.

Does Technically Not see my password?

No. Each account signs in through the CLI's own login, on the provider's page in your browser. Technically Not never stores passwords or API keys.

Is there a free plan or trial?

No. Pro is $15/month or $144/year, and the Founder price is $99/year until December 25, 2026. You can try the real interface in the browser before you buy.
